Princess May Primary School

PSHE and RSE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) help pupils keep themselves healthy and safe, build strong and respectful relationships, and make thoughtful decisions about health, money and the online world. Children hear mixed messages from many places, so we make sure every child receives clear, accurate and age-appropriate teaching.

Pupils learn about families and friendships, the changes that happen during puberty, keeping physically and mentally healthy, staying safe (including online and basic first aid), and their rights and responsibilities as citizens. They also learn to question information and judge whether advice is reliable.

Your right to withdraw

Relationships Education and Health Education are compulsory in all primary schools, and parents cannot withdraw their child from them. Parents can ask to withdraw their child from some or all of any sex education taught beyond the science curriculum. If you would like to discuss this, please contact the headteacher through the school office. Our RSHE Policy explains what is taught and when.
