History

Our history curriculum aims to make pupils curious, analytical thinkers with a broad understanding of the past. Pupils learn to question evidence, explore different perspectives and form their own interpretations, and to understand how history shapes identities and communities.

Pupils build chronological awareness, knowledge of key events, people and societies, and the skills of historical enquiry. Units are framed as questions, for example Why did the Romans invade and settle in Britain? (Year 3) and What was the impact of World War 2 on the people of Britain? (Year 6).

The curriculum overview shows what pupils learn each term; the progression map shows how knowledge and skills build from year to year.
