Sports Grant Statement

What is the PE and sports premium?

The government is providing £450 million over the next three academic years 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2016/17 to primary schools to help them improve the quality and teaching of PE and to develop the sporting opportunities for extra-curricular activities and competitive sports for all children.

The funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health, and Culture, Media and Sport and each school will receive £8,000 plus an extra £5 per pupil each year for the next two years.

Schools must spend the sports premium on improving and developing their provision of PE and sport, but have the flexibility to choose how they do this.
